Why Permanent Makeup?

Besides the convenience and improved physical appearance, permanent makeup is a great option for those experiencing a loss of facial hair due to certain conditions such as Alopecia or Chemotherapy from cancer. Those with sensitive skin that have difficulty wearing other cosmetics containing fragrances or other ingredients that may an allergic reaction can benefit from permanent makeup. Finally, stroke survivors or women suffering from Arthritics, Parkinson’s disease, and Multiple Sclerosis that have unsteady hands or diminishing sight and experience trouble applying their own makeup can benefit from this long-lasting solution.

How It’s Applied

Permanent makeup application has come a long way. Janet St. Paul Studio has invested in the latest technology, a digital device, resulting in less trauma to the skin for a quicker recovery time and longer-lasting results. The digital device and techniques of today create a beautiful, natural-looking appearance that can last up to five years.

What To Expect

Before scheduling your semi-permanent makeup session, it is important to consider what to expect in the days following so that you schedule it during a time that is most convenient for your calendar and lifestyle. Your new temporary eyebrow, eyeliner or lip will go through several phases during the healing cycle. You may experience slight swelling or redness. For example, after a microblading session, the pigment will appear very sharp and dark immediately and for the first few days before it softens to a more natural-looking brow. Also, itching and flaking may appear within the first seven days following the procedure but if following the after-care instructions, this will quickly disappear. For more details, please schedule a complimentary consultation.

What to Avoid Following a Session

The following must be avoided for nine days post-microblading procedure:

  • Increased (excessive) sweating
  • Swimming, hot bath, sauna, jacuzzi, hot steamy showers
  • Sun tanning or salon tanning (this is also to be avoided 10 days prior to the session)
  • Laser or chemical treatment peels, creams containing Retin-A or Glycolic acid on the face or neck
  • Makeup on treated areas
  • Heavy household cleaning where there is a lot of airborne debris
  • Spicy foods, smoking or drinking alcohol in excess
  • Riding in open-air vehicles such as convertibles, boats, bicycles or motorcycles
  • Touching of the eyebrow area except for when rinsing and applying the post-care cream
