The unprecedented times we are traversing have presented Janet St. Paul Studio for Hair and Beauty with some pretty significant challenges. Our industry has been one of the hardest hit, not only here in Austin, Texas but internationally. As the flagship salon for an international beauty brand, we take our leadership role very seriously and have responded by implementing new protocols and procedures designed to protect the safety of our clients, our staff and our industry.
PC (prior to COVID-19) we would hold regularly scheduled training sessions at the salon for our team every week. This commitment to professional education is a tenet of our Austin salon. It keeps our skills sharp and our hands on the pulse of the latest advances and developments in haircuts, color and beauty. PC, we were beyond excited and counting the days until the training we had scheduled with internationally renowned celebrity stylist, Anh Co Tran.
Mr. Tran’s work has been seen on red carpets, runways and editorial world-wide, and we were excitedly planning to host other Austin hair stylists and professionals at our downtown Austin salon for a world-class training event.
And then… we all know how schedules were interrupted as a result of Corona. But we were fortunate that the opportunity to fulfill the scheduled event happened in the window of time between PC and where we find ourselves today. It feels rather miraculous, looking back. We were so fortunate and grateful to have An Cho Tran and his talented team at the salon for this special intensive professional team training, I wanted to share what we learned.
CURATED CUTTING & LIVED IN HAIR
Anh and his team demonstrated his renowned modular curated cutting style, characterized by a fabulous dry cutting technique.
The curated cut and lived-in hair look focuses on layers and face-framing with movement engineered into the cut. This method enhances highlights and shows color in a fresh and modern way. This cut has amazing longevity when compared to other layer cuts. It can last up to 4-6 months–an amazing value add especially now, when we are not able to make salon visits as frequently as before.
For three awesome days we were all able to observe Anh demonstrate his original lived-in cuts and hear him break down the entire process.
His exciting dry cutting technique offers a new approach to producing chic, elegant, uncomplicated beauty for all textures and lengths. So, for clients seeking something fresh, but natural and filled with movement, Anh’s curated cutting haircuts are the perfect solution.

Because Janet St. Paul Studio for Hair and Beauty is the first salon in Austin to feature this educational curated cutting experience with Anh Co Tran, we are especially proud to share the opportunity with our fellow beauty professionals. Our mission is to help educate not only our staff, our clients, but also the local beauty industry.
